Lake Texoma is a one of southwest Oklahoma's premier destinations for a variety of watersports, including, boating, swimming, and fishing. It's also a great place to simply relax and enjoy a hike or a family picnic. 

Fishing

Lake Texoma is one of the best destinations in the country for fishing. Its large size makes it a perfect place for catching trophy-sized fish. It's most famous for huge striped bass. Most freshwater striped bass stay small, but the size of Lake Texoma allows them to grow to massive sizes. The Lake Texoma striped bass record is over 35 pounds!

If you thought that was impressive, you won't believe the size of the catfish that live in Lake Texoma! Because of the abundant minnows and other food sources, catfish routinely grow into the double digits. The biggest on record for Lake Texoma was a blue catfish that weighed in at over 121 pounds and nearly 5 feet long!

Lake Texoma is also known for the wide variety of fish it holds. Anglers are likely to find striped bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, rock bass, crappie, perch, catfish, and more. Visitors of all skill levels will find it easy to catch something in this lake, regardless of season or whether you're fishing from shore or a boat. A fishing license is required, but allows you to fish the entire lake, regardless of the state.

Boating

Boating on Lake Texoma can be a great way to spend the day. There are plenty of marinas located around the lake where you can launch and dock your own boat. Be sure to reserve a slip if you're planning on docking your boat overnight and be prepared to pay launch and dock fees.

Hiking

Another one of the popular activities at Lake Texoma is hiking. Easy trails for hikers of all skill levels can be found at Lake Texoma State Park and Eisenhower State Park. The trails at these parks are often short, paved, and level. There are also easy and moderate trails at the various wildlife refuges around the lake that vary in length and grade.

For more experienced hikers, Cross Timbers Hiking Trail is a great option. This trail stretches along the southern shores of Lake Texoma and offers amazing views of the lake. The trail stretches over 14 miles with sections of sharp inclines and declines.
